10 Banners Hung in DC Area for Morning Rush Hour
October
2, 2009
During the early morning rush hour on October 2nd, Washington, DC commuters received the World Farm Animals Day message with ten large banners hanging from overpasses surrounding the capital beltway.
The banners were placed by World Farm Animals Day
activists above the congested I-495 freeway that surrounds Washington, DC. The messages included "Stop The Suffering. Go Vegan!" and "Stop the Slaughter. Go Vegan!" both listing the "WorldFarmAnimalsDay.org" website.
The 12 foot signs were spotted over several I-495 overhangs in Bethesda and Silver Spring, Maryland, and well as over the 270 freeway and above busy city streets.
Each viewer is asked to stop contributing to horrific cruelty when they sit down for a meal and to adopt a compassionate, vegan diet. The website WorldFarmAnimalsDay.org offers visitors a free Vegan Starter Guide and weekly emailed recipes. Visitors who are already vegetarian or vegan are encouraged to get active for World Farm Animals Day, which occurs on October 2nd (Gandhi's birthday) each year.
Congratulations to FARM's comitted activists in DC and around the world!
